«THEATRE»

NIGHT OF THEATRES 2026
NOVIY MANEZH
"THEATRE" is the first fusion of multimedia and classical theatre, realized by VLAB as part of the Night of Theatres 2026 event. Maria Gutkova, Creative Director of VLAB, authored the entire concept and served as curator of the exhibition hall.
The installation is dedicated to what lies behind the scenes: the thousands of people whose work remains invisible, yet it is precisely their effort that creates the atmosphere and soul of the theatre. Within the space of "THEATRE," multimedia technologies become tools in the hands of an artist and set designer — here one can see how they operate in concert with classical tradition, with a ballerina, with the spoken word, and with understated form.
The project demonstrates this symbiosis: modern technologies are not set in opposition to classical theatre — they have grown out of it. "THEATRE" is a small yet precise attempt to prove that multimedia theatre and classical tradition speak the same language.
